Work Principle
The Fully Automated HbA1c Analyzer uses high performance liquid chromatography and the stationary phase used is a weak acidic cation exchanger. The glycosylation of hemoglobin will result in the loss of cations on the surface of hemoglobin and then it becomes electrically neutral. Non-glycosylated hemoglobin carries a positive charge. According to the different nature of hemoglobin, washing solution of different pH and ionic strength are used in turn. High performance liquid chromatography is used to separate several hemoglobin constituents including HbA1c. The constituents are detected by a dual-wavelength colorimeter and the data is processed by microcomputer to calculate the percentage of HbA1c in total hemoglobin. Then it achieves quantitative detection of glycosylated hemoglobin in the blood.
